Down 80 pounds now!!
As of today I have lost 80 pounds. I am on Mounjaro 10mg atm. I started in January. I have lupus, Lipedema, lymphedema, and intracranial hypertension (fluid on the brain). I was put on Mounjaro to help with the Lipedema and lymphedema. It is nearly impossible to lose weight with these diseases. The Mounjaro has helped with the Lipedema - it’s breaking up the fibrotic, nodular tissue ( it looks like fat but it’s not fat it’s abnormal connective tissue). Relieving inflammation and pain from the Lipedema. It’s also helping get the lymphatic fluid off and keep it off- that’s an uphill battle all the time! I can gain 15 pounds in fluid overnight! Fat does not come on that fast (no more than 1-2 pounds in a week and that’s someone eating crazy amounts of food). Fluid is a whole different beast!! Fat would be much easier to lose. I stay in a calorie deficit daily and I exercise 3-4 times a week… cardio and weight resistance. I use a vibration plate for the lymphedema and I wear compression. I watch my sodium- I don’t consume more than 2500 mg/day. Sodium holds in fluid and it hides in most of our foods. It’s what makes eating at a restaurant a challenge. I have looked up restaurant food items that were 5000mg!!! That’s twice the daily recommended amount!! You will see the effects of that on the scale for sure! As a cardiac RN I know all about sodium and fluid retention- I’ve had patients lose 100lbs of fluid in the hospital on a lasix drip! I take in adequate amounts of protein daily-120-150 grams. I track everything on my Lose It app religiously- what I’ve eaten with all the nutritional values, what I’ve drank esp my 80 ounces of water a day, my steps, my work outs, my weight, my measurements. It tracks my calories so I can always see how much of a deficit -I’m in-300-500 cal/day min. deficit. I’m feeling a lot better. My mobility is improving. Pain is becoming less. I’m not having to fight the lymphatic fluid so much- that alone is exhausting. I still have over a hundred more pounds to go, but I’m getting there!
